The HR Generalist will report to the Manager HR. This position plays a key role in assisting with the development and coordination of programs which directly support the achievement of business objectives. This position supports the Manufacturing operations in managing the day-to-day Human Resource function including: employee relations, recruiting and selection, HR compliance, on-boarding, employee recordkeeping, training and development, compensation, performance review and merit planning, employee benefits, succession planning and HRIS system administration:
- Enhancing and Expanding the Performance Management Process including designing and conducting Performance Management and Competency Calibration Meetings, integrating the Performance and Merit processes, and re-designing and re-launching the Success Factors tool.
- Participate in Compensation Planning and Analysis Activities (e.g. Total Reward surveys, annual incentive plan design, and annual compensation process).
- Support Senior Leaders with Organization and Job Design issues.
- Support work of Employer of Choice Culture Team.
- Support Employee Engagement Project in Manufacturing Facility.
- Participate in and support process improvement initiatives and Lean projects. Look for opportunities to streamline HR processes wherever possible
- Responsible for remaining up-to-date on relevant federal Maryland State employment laws and other human resources compliance issues. Update management and employees on policies/processes as necessary
- Ensure compliance with Corporation requirements as well as with relevant state, federal and local employment laws
- Maintain HRIS database ensuring system is accurate, complete and consistent with Corporation policies and procedures. Track error rate, determine root causes and implement appropriate corrective action.
- Administer human resource policies and procedures which are consistent with corporate policies and practices and which will encourage a high standard of individual and group performance.
- Coach managerial/supervisory employees relative to interpretation and implementation of relevant HR policies, procedures and programs.
- Provide advice and counsel to management regarding all people related and organizational issues; manage all aspects of employee relations including investigations, counseling to management and employees, conflict mediation and resolution, etc.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze data for trends and make necessary recommendations to management team.
- Coordinate compensation programs. Compare internal positions and salary ranges against other Medical Device and Life Science companies in the area. Develop job descriptions for new created positions.
- Administers the benefits program, in conjunction with corporate benefits to communicate all benefit changes to employees and ensure benefit enrollment process is timely and smooth. Develop and provide benefit information meetings as needed
- Assist with managing recruitment efforts within established guidelines. Partner with managers in establishing hiring and compensation strategies. Prepare job descriptions, post job openings, source and screen and interview applicants.
- Identify and participate in job fairs, career days and other recruitment events that could provide quality candidates for open positions.
- Manages the relationship with temporary contract agencies, negotiates rates and maintains contracts, manages temporary requisition process in conjunction with corporate requirements
- Work with HR Manager to determine, develop and implement training programs to strengthen competencies and skill-set across the business.
Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of related experience in a generalist role
- Medical Device/Pharmaceutical experience in a manufacturing environment and public company experience required
- Strong business acumen; can see HR issues through the lenses of a business manager;
- Strong consulting skills;
- Strong relationship building and collaboration;
- No direct reports; however managing through matrix organization is tantamount;
- Key skills and abilities include coaching, influencing, facilitation, process development, analysis and problem solving.
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred
- Must possess strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint:
- Working knowledge of EEO, Maryland State and Federal employment laws.
Education
- B.S. degree preferred.
- Advanced degree (M.B.A., Masters) would be considered a plus.
